About this game

18 Floors is a PlayStation 4 adventure game centered on puzzle, maze, or device solving, character and object interaction, and objective or clue progression. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while HD output, HDR or PS4 Pro modes, HDD streaming, surround audio, and television-distance interfaces need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include HDD installs and loading, patch version, storage space, DualShock 4 battery life, PS Camera or PS VR requirements, visual modes, frame rate, and network services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Atmospheric VR escape rooms with a small launch package and strict equipment needs.

18 Floors places the player inside dim rooms to handle objects, connect clues and find a way out. Physical scale and uneasy sound make inspection suspenseful without depending on frequent jump scares. The appeal lies in observing a space rather than rushing through it. Two escape rooms reward examining objects and connecting clues in space. Some obscure steps interrupt reasoning and extend time spent without a clear next lead. Only two floors were playable at launch. Each rewards inspection, but the package falls far short of the title’s long-form implication; promised additions are not credited as delivered content. Detailed rooms and uneasy sound build mystery without cheap jump scares. Sparse in-game story context weakens the link between the two floors. The PS4 version requires PS VR, Camera and Move controllers. The original test reports occasional tracking friction and teleport-only movement; an ordinary gamepad cannot substitute. This assessment covers the original PS4 package with only two playable floors; promised later rooms are not counted as existing content. Play requires the original PlayStation VR headset, PlayStation Camera and Move controllers. Movement uses teleportation and the original review notes some tracking friction. It best suits an equipped player who enjoys patient clue hunting, not someone expecting a gamepad escape room or eighteen complete floors at launch.

Strengths

  • Spatial object interaction.
  • Strong atmosphere without cheap shocks.

Weaknesses

  • Only two floors at launch.
  • Tracking and locomotion friction.

Who it is for: Equipped players who enjoy VR escape-room puzzles.

Play notes: PS VR, Camera and Move required; original two-floor package only.
