About this game

1-2-Switch turns detached Joy-Con controllers into props for a face-to-face party. In Ball Count, tilt the controller and use vibration to judge the balls moving inside it. Safe Crack asks you to turn a dial and feel for the right positions, while Copy Dance makes the other player’s movements your reference. For a connected competition, Team Battle uses a spinner to select minigames and moves the winning team toward a goal on a board. That format accommodates a contest between two players or two larger teams. The focus stays on the people sharing the controllers and responding to each other. On Nintendo Switch Lite, separate Joy-Con controllers are required.

6.5 / 10Nintendo Switch

Best matched to a group willing to make each other the centre of the game.

Watching another person and interpreting vibration can turn simple actions into shared performances. Team Battle supplies a reason to connect those contests, though the face-to-face premise asks more of the company than a screen-led solo session would.

Strengths

  • Tactile clues give players something concrete to interpret beyond the screen.
  • Copying another person makes their choices part of the challenge.

Weaknesses

  • Its face-to-face emphasis is a less natural fit for players seeking a primarily solo, screen-focused activity.

Who it is for: Friends or family who enjoy physical imitation, tactile puzzles and playing to an audience.

Play notes: Nintendo Switch Lite needs separate Joy-Con controllers; the system alone is insufficient.

Making the opponent the visual reference shifts the performance into the room, which should suit groups comfortable being watched.

The reliance on detached Joy-Con makes controller access a practical consideration, particularly for Switch Lite owners.
