Overview

Picross turns number clues into hidden pictures. Read the rows and columns, work out which squares belong, and gradually reveal an image; the 3D branch has you chip away blocks to uncover a solid shape. Representative games: Mario’s Picross (1995): Introduces the picture puzzles on Game Boy, using numbers around a grid to guide each square you uncover. Picross 3D (2009): Moves the deduction into three dimensions, with numbered blocks to remove until a hidden object emerges. Picross S (2017): Pairs classic puzzles with Mega Picross and lets two players work on the same puzzle. Suitable for: For players who enjoy quiet concentration and the moment when a stubborn clue finally makes sense. Expect to check possibilities carefully and build a picture one certain square at a time.
