Overview

Lode Runner is an action-puzzle series about collecting gold while enemies close in. You run, climb and dig holes in the floor to trap pursuers or reach treasure, turning a simple-looking maze into a test of routes and timing. Representative games: Lode Runner (1983): Establishes the gold-collecting puzzles and includes an editor for designing your own levels. Lode Runner 2 (1998): Reworks the puzzles around an isometric view and enemies with different pursuit patterns. Lode Runner Legacy (2017): Adds a voxel look and tools for making characters and items as well as levels.
