Overview

Mystical Ninja is Konami’s Goemon series, mixing a comic version of old Japan with unlikely machines and playful detours. You fight through enemies, explore towns and tackle platforming challenges, with different entries adding diversions such as minigames and giant robot battles. Representative games: Ganbare Goemon! Karakuri Dōchū (1986): Has you search mazes and hidden passages for three travel passes needed to open each checkpoint. The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (1991): Pairs Goemon and Ebisumaru in an adventure mixing town exploration, action stages and minigames. Ganbare Goemon 2: Kiteretsu Shōgun Magginesu (1993): Adds the mechanical ninja Sasuke and lets the heroes pilot Goemon Impact in oversized boss battles. Suitable for: For players who like eccentric comedy and adventures that keep changing pace, leaving room to poke around a town before tackling the next action stage.
