Overview

Earth Defense Force is a mission-based action-shooter series that makes its soldiers look tiny beside the invasion they face. Giant creatures, alien forces and outsized weapons fill the screen, with later games and spin-offs exploring different combat roles and squad combinations. Representative games: The Earth Defense Force (2003): Introduces the series’ soldiers-versus-giants battles as enormous ant-like creatures overrun a city. Earth Defense Force 5 (2017): Gives four soldier classes distinct ways to fight, from aerial attacks to heavy weapons and battlefield support. Earth Defense Force: World Brothers (spin-off) (2020): Rebuilds the invasion in a voxel world where you switch between four members of your squad.
