About this game
Your expedition takes you to the arctic region of planet 4546B, where abandoned research stations hold clues to what happened to your sister. Swim through aquatic biomes, search for materials and craft tools, then build habitats as you venture deeper. Logs and databanks connect the places you explore to the investigation. Travel also extends above the water. The modular Seatruck carries you through underwater environments, while trips onto land introduce cold exposure. A cold suit, hot coffee and Thermal Lilies offer ways to keep warm. Exploration therefore involves both equipping yourself for the journey and looking for the next piece of the mystery.
Collected in series
Subnautica mixes alien-ocean exploration with survival, crafting and the search for answers. Gathering supplies and improving your equipment lets you venture farther from shelter, where beautiful habitats can hide unsettling creatures.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A promising fit for explorers who enjoy preparing for unfamiliar environments.
Crafting and habitat building can give exploration practical purpose, while station records add an investigative thread. Cold exposure makes land excursions another preparation problem for players who enjoy survival decisions.
Strengths
- Tools and habitats can make gathering feel connected to the next expedition.
- Underwater travel and cold-weather preparation offer different exploration priorities.
Weaknesses
- Players chiefly interested in the mystery may find survival preparation an unwelcome detour.
Who it is for: Players who like resource gathering, base building and piecing together environmental clues.
Play notes: Cold exposure remains relevant on land; preparation includes ways to keep warm.
