About this game

Sniper Elite 4 places tactical third-person combat in Second World War Italy. Campaign levels let you choose a route towards objectives, discover sniper positions and pursue side missions or collectibles. Long-range shots are accompanied by an X-ray kill camera that depicts their skeletal impact. Remaining unseen involves more than selecting a distant perch. Loud environmental sounds can conceal gunfire, while repeated unmasked shots help enemies estimate where you are. Moving away from the location they are investigating reduces the risk of detection. The Switch edition also supports gyroscopic battlefield panning and HD rumble feedback for gunshots, alongside the campaign's choice of approaches.

7.9 / 10Nintendo Switch

For players who enjoy planning a shot and an escape rather than focusing only on firing.

Route choice and sound masking can make observation part of the shooting challenge. Enemy investigation gives relocation a purpose, which may appeal to players who enjoy changing position as a plan develops.

Strengths

  • Sound masking gives environmental observation a direct tactical use.
  • Alternative routes and optional discoveries can reward players who like shaping their own approach.

Weaknesses

  • Managing sound and relocating may interrupt the continuous firing some players prefer.

Who it is for: Players drawn to deliberate marksmanship, stealth decisions and choosing their own route through mission spaces.

Play notes: The X-ray kill camera emphasises bodily damage, making tolerance for graphic combat imagery relevant.
