About this game
Six years after Raccoon City, Leon Kennedy is sent to rescue the president’s daughter. An isolated village turns that assignment into a struggle against hostile inhabitants and the forces directing them. The remake rebuilds the adventure around a closer view of combat and a more immediate sense of danger. Weapon choice, positioning and the timing of attacks shape each encounter. There are puzzles and requests between major confrontations, giving exploration a role alongside the action. This is the modern remake of Resident Evil 4; platform editions can include additional content, which is described separately for the relevant release.

Resident Evil 4 2023 Remake
A rich combat adventure, with visible compromises in its portable conversion.
Its greatest strength is the number of useful decisions a confrontation can hold. Choosing a weapon, keeping room to move and deciding when to commit an attack make pressure something to manage rather than simply endure. Requests and puzzles give the campaign changes of pace without losing its forward pull. That balance makes the adventure appealing both as a first journey and as a game whose encounters can be understood more deeply over time. The Switch2 edition preserves much of that appeal, but texture transitions and uneven motion-control response prevent it from feeling equally polished in every respect. This is an evidence-led judgment of the reviewed campaign conditions, not a claim to have completed every included extra. The Gold package’s additional content adds scope, while the measured experience and its limitations remain separately disclosed.
Strengths
- Many worthwhile combat decisions and a varied campaign rhythm.
Weaknesses
- Texture pop-in and uneven gyro response affect polish.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy action horror with room for tactical improvement.
Play notes: The October20 Switch2 test covers about20hours of the campaign and requests, not every Gold extra. Patch unspecified; texture pop-in and uneven gyro response are review-era observations.
