About this game

Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands is a Xbox 360 action game centered on platform movement and landing judgment, story, case, or mission progress, and stage objectives. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hits, camera behavior, and readable hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while HD video, DVD streaming, surround audio, HDD installs, and television-distance interfaces need to keep action, state, and text readable. The genre-specific limitation is that camera behavior, collision rules, input mapping, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. Platform conditions also include disc and HDD installation, storage devices, controller batteries, video connections, resolution and frame rate, Kinect space and calibration, and retired online services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Combined powers make platforming rewarding, while shallow combat and familiar storytelling limit the whole.

The Forgotten Sands is strongest when its powers combine during traversal. Turning water into temporary footholds, then releasing it in midair, gives familiar wall runs and climbs new timing demands. Linear stages teach these combinations gradually, while combat and story provide less variety. Palace environments and the soundtrack maintain a coherent series identity without many surprises. On Xbox 360, the four shoulder inputs support coordinated powers and precise traversal. Time reversal leaves room for experimentation while still requiring attention to resources and routes. This suits players who enjoy sustained platforming sequences and learning a path through obstacles. Those primarily seeking sophisticated crowd combat or narrative invention may be disappointed. The assessment covers this original console edition only, excluding the substantially different Wii, PSP and DS adaptations and avoiding performance claims transferred from another platform.

Strengths

  • Clever water-based traversal
  • Gradual introduction of powers

Weaknesses

  • Limited combat variety
  • Familiar story and settings

Who it is for: Players who enjoy precise platforming routes and combined powers.

Play notes: This original console edition only, excluding other adaptations with the same title.
