About this game

Penny’s Big Breakaway turns a Yo-Yo into a means of getting around. Swing, dash and ride through levels as penguins pursue Penny and try to pile onto her. Snacks give Yo-Yo temporary powers, including extra movement speed or protection, adding another tool to the escape. In the fluorescent world of Macaroon, Story Mode lets you chain tricks into combos and build multipliers. Coins unlock extras such as secret stages. Time Attack shifts the goal toward fast runs, giving you a separate setting for working on a quicker route.

8.4 / 10Nintendo Switch

An appealing movement puzzle for players who enjoy linking traversal actions under pressure.

Swinging, dashing and riding give route choices a physical focus, while pursuing penguins put those choices under pressure. If refining movement is the attraction, Story Mode combos and Time Attack offer different goals for that interest.

Strengths

  • Several Yo-Yo movement actions can turn finding a route into a question of how to connect moves.

Weaknesses

  • Penguin pursuit may feel intrusive to players who want to inspect a platforming route without pressure.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy movement combinations, combo goals and improving their route through a level.
