About this game

Necromunda: Hired Gun is a PlayStation 5 adventure game centered on combat encounters, collection and development goals, and objective or clue progression. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while SSD streaming, 4K and HDR output, 3D audio, performance or quality modes, and high-density interfaces need to preserve feedback and information clarity together. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include install size, SSD space, patch version, DualSense battery life, visual mode and frame rate, online dependencies, PS VR2 requirements, and cross-generation version differences affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Enjoyable mobile shooting with substantial usability friction.

Wall running, sliding, grappling and slowing time can be woven into gunfire, giving combat room for expressive movement. Weapon modification and bounty jobs provide goals, but predictable enemy arrivals and repeated industrial spaces reduce surprise. Underdeveloped characters and quiet dialogue also make the narrative less engaging than the setting suggests. In the documented PS5 test, selecting abilities through a radial menu leaves the player exposed, while companion commands become unreliable around obstacles. These usability problems matter more to the experience than visual detail alone. It suits players willing to accept rough edges for mobile shooting. Subtitles and familiarity with the ability wheel help, and the dog should not be treated as a reliable answer to elevated enemies.

Strengths

  • Traversal combines with attacks.

Weaknesses

  • Awkward abilities, dog commands and dialogue mixing.

Who it is for: Fast-shooter fans comfortable with rough edges.

Play notes: Uses the June 2021 PS5 test, not a claim that later patches retain these defects.
