About this game
Metro Exodus is a PC shooter game centered on aiming and shooting, positioning and evasion, and weapon and firepower management. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while resolution, graphics settings, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio, text scaling, and hardware performance need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include OS and hardware requirements, installation media, patches, drivers, DRM and launchers, key binding and controller support, save locations, mod compatibility, servers, and era-specific OS compatibility affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Metro blends first-person shooting, stealth and survival horror in the nuclear wasteland of Dmitry Glukhovsky’s fictional universe. Underground settlements and ruined landscapes make ammunition, clean air and the decision to stay hidden feel equally important.

A memorable wasteland journey with weaker combat.
The original Windows release of Metro Exodus takes its survivors out of Moscow’s tunnels and aboard the Aurora, stopping in distinct regions around the Volga, Caspian Sea and forests. Scarce ammunition, gas-mask filters, stealth and field crafting make excursions feel costly, while responsive weapons keep firefights forceful. Enemy AI and mutant encounters, however, offer less depth than the survival setup promises. The memorable achievement is the journey itself: shifting weather, intricate light, abandoned traces of ordinary life and quiet moments among the train’s crew give this wasteland emotional weight. Long explanatory scenes and uneven English voice acting sometimes interrupt that immersion. A direct PC review reports generally steady 1440p/high play on its specified GTX 1080 system, with dips in busier areas and extensive settings available; those results cannot guarantee performance on other hardware. This score covers the 2019 original PC edition, not the separately installed Enhanced Edition or its later ray-tracing pipeline.
Strengths
- Regional exploration, survival decisions and world-building reinforce one another.
Weaknesses
- Shallow enemies and uneven English acting hold it back.
Who it is for: PC players who enjoy atmospheric journeys with survival pressure.
Play notes: Original 2019 PC edition only; tested hardware is not a universal benchmark.
