About this game
In Sound Mind is a PlayStation 5 adventure game centered on combat encounters, puzzle, maze, or device solving, and objective or clue progression. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while SSD streaming, 4K and HDR output, 3D audio, performance or quality modes, and high-density interfaces need to preserve feedback and information clarity together. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include install size, SSD space, patch version, DualSense battery life, visual mode and frame rate, online dependencies, PS VR2 requirements, and cross-generation version differences affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

PlayStation 5AI review

Inventive environmental horror undermined by historical PS5 instability.
A therapist uses a mirror shard, flashlight and later tools to read environmental clues across four dreamscapes. Observation and tool reuse define the adventure more strongly than its thin combat encounters. Four distinct areas make a ten-to-twelve-hour adventure with natural chapter breaks. The quarry overstays its welcome, and missing a key item can turn free exploration into a long and frustrating search. An eerie apartment and grocery store establish unease before the story shifts toward an eccentric conspiracy. That shift weakens sustained horror, but it gives the experience more shape than a sequence of jump scares. The tested PS5 retail build had erratic frame delivery, several crashes around one foe and a glitchy conveyor puzzle. Progress loss was small and the game remained completable, but interruptions plainly undermined investigation.
Strengths
- Distinct dreams reward observation.
- The tonal turn gives the story character.
Weaknesses
- Some searches and the quarry drag.
- Early PS5 build had crashes and frame dips.
Who it is for: Indie horror fans who favour exploration and puzzles over combat and can tolerate documented early-build faults.
Play notes: Performance faults describe the 2021 PS5 retail test only; no later-patch retest establishes their current status.
