About this game

Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What Did I Do to Deserve This is a PSP strategy game centered on area and route exploration, collection and development goals, and battlefield assessment. Missions add map constraints, new rules, and tougher opposition, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Maps, unit states, and action feedback determine whether complex situations remain readable, while the portable widescreen, UMD streaming, compressed audio, and handheld-scale interface need to preserve targets, text, and action readability. The genre-specific limitation is that tutorial depth, dense menus, controller pointing, and long scenarios increase the learning curve. Platform conditions also include single-nub camera control, UMD loading and noise, Memory Stick saves, battery life, regional language, ad hoc requirements, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Inventive dungeon ecology with opaque, punishing outcomes.

Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! on PSP reverses the usual heroic dungeon crawl. The player digs passages and nutrient-rich soil to grow an ecology of slimes and stronger monsters before invading heroes can carry off the overlord. It is a distinctive way to build defenses, and watching creatures feed and multiply can be fascinating. The crucial weakness is that those creatures are not directly commanded. When a carefully prepared dungeon collapses, it can be hard to tell which decision failed. The continuous story dungeon must be rebuilt after defeat, although separate missions and an illustrated almanac add reasons to return. Blocky retro art and jokes about old role-playing games give the release a coherent comic voice, while repeated effects and tunes become tiring. A direct PSP review finds the pickaxe inputs simple and the tutorials useful. The serious usability problem lies in opaque ecological feedback, not in an evidenced hardware performance fault.

Strengths

  • Excavation and nutrient cycles make defense unusually inventive.

Weaknesses

  • Unruly creatures and full resets make experimentation costly.

Who it is for: Strategy players who enjoy retro satire and indirect systems.

Play notes: This covers the documented 2009 PSP build, not current store access.
