About this game

Hollow Knight: Silksong is a PC adventure game centered on location exploration, character and object interaction, and objective or clue progression. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while resolution, graphics settings, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio, text scaling, and hardware performance need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include OS and hardware requirements, installation media, patches, drivers, DRM and launchers, key binding and controller support, save locations, mod compatibility, servers, and era-specific OS compatibility affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

8.6 / 10Windows PC

A captivating world and precise combat with relentless demands.

On Windows, Hollow Knight: Silksong turns Hornet’s quick needle attacks and agile traversal into a demanding journey through connected regions of Pharloom. Bosses, spikes, and hidden paths require precise learning. Mastery feels rewarding, but sustained failure can become exhausting. A direct PC reviewer still found quests, bosses, and towns to rebuild after more than twenty-five hours; discovery comes from layered routes rather than map size alone. Detailed transitions between a pristine upper citadel and decaying lower spaces, plus memorable characters and music, give the world emotional continuity. A separate hands-on inspection of the Windows settings confirms remappable inputs, 16:10 and 21:9 display modes, and selectable frame caps. The unusually wide 32:9 ratio is unsupported. Those options do not prove that every computer achieves a particular rate. This is a judgment of the documented PC build, without borrowing Switch 2 performance for the original Switch release.

Strengths

  • Needle combat, interlinked routes, and environmental detail sustain discovery.

Weaknesses

  • Punishing sequences can delay discovery and amplify repeated failure.

Who it is for: Players who welcome precise platforming and repeated boss practice.

Play notes: PC settings are not a universal frame-rate guarantee; Switch builds differ.
