About this game

This collection brings together Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Driving, missions and armed combat form the action, with GTA III offering nonlinear exploration of Liberty City's criminal world. Vice City follows Tommy Vercetti's betrayal-and-revenge story in a neon-lit tropical setting, while San Andreas sends CJ across the state as he tries to protect his family after being framed by corrupt police. The Definitive Edition revises lighting and environmental presentation and adopts controls and targeting styled after GTA V. On Switch, all three games also offer gyro aiming and touchscreen camera and menu functions. These changes accompany the collection's different stories and settings rather than joining them into one adventure.

8.3 / 10Nintendo Switch

A collection to consider for players interested in contrasting crime stories and city settings.

The included games give players different protagonists and settings to explore through driving and armed action. Shared control conventions may make moving between the titles more approachable, while the appeal depends on wanting several distinct adventures.

Strengths

  • The contrasting settings provide a concrete reason to explore more than one of the included stories.
  • GTA V-style controls and targeting may offer a familiar starting point for players used to that layout.

Who it is for: Players interested in Liberty City, Tommy Vercetti's revenge story and CJ's family-centered journey as separate adventures.

Play notes: The Switch physical version requires an internet download.
