About this game

Gotham Knights is a PlayStation 5 adventure game centered on story, case, or mission progress, character and object interaction, and objective or clue progression. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while SSD streaming, 4K and HDR output, 3D audio, performance or quality modes, and high-density interfaces need to preserve feedback and information clarity together. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include install size, SSD space, patch version, DualSense battery life, visual mode and frame rate, online dependencies, PS VR2 requirements, and cross-generation version differences affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

A strong central mystery and distinct heroes meet thin exploration and cumbersome menus.

Gotham Knights: The four heroes bring different powers to the fight, and Momentum skills enable useful tactical choices. Repeated basic strikes before those skills become available make ordinary encounters less expressive than their best moments. Crime scenes and evidence boards give the main investigation a clear purpose. The city offers fewer worthwhile discoveries between cases, while replacing similar gear for higher statistics stretches progression without adding many decisions. Directed interiors and cutscenes give the Court of Owls investigation convincing dramatic shape. The four successors offer fresh views of Gotham, although the broad city rarely matches the density of its crafted story spaces. The PS5 review documents awkward traversal near objects and several overlapping objective menus. Finding the right information and adjusting equipment therefore adds friction; this judgment does not reuse an unverified present-day frame-rate claim.

Strengths

  • The heroes have distinct combat tools.
  • Directed case scenes have strong atmosphere.

Weaknesses

  • City rewards and gear progression repeat.
  • Menus and traversal add friction.

Who it is for: Players seeking a Gotham mystery with distinct playable heroes.

Play notes: Based on the 2022 European PS5 review, not a current patch or online retest.
