About this game
Ghost Master - The Gravenville Chronicles is a Xbox action game centered on movement and immediate actions, enemy and hazard responses, and stage objectives. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hits, camera behavior, and readable hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while standard or progressive-scan video, widescreen support, HDD caching, and Dolby Digital audio need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera behavior, collision rules, input mapping, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. Platform conditions also include disc loading, the internal HDD and cache, memory units, regional language, display modes, legacy controller ports, and retired Xbox Live services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Inventive haunting strategies struggle with visibility and retries
Directing ghosts to manipulate mortals offers a distinctive strategic idea. Different spirits frighten, attract or influence the environment, and some objectives require keeping a useful person present until an action is complete. Stronger scares are therefore not always better. Later objectives and supernatural opponents add worthwhile complexity, while varied locations and haunted-house music establish a playful atmosphere. Execution is much less welcoming. Walls obscure placement areas, and rough models with overlapping effects make busy encounters difficult to read. Analog camera adjustment helps, but repeated repositioning remains necessary. Missions also lack mid-level saving: a late mistake near the dawn deadline can erase a long stretch of careful planning. Patient strategy players can uncover genuine originality, although the interface and retry burden never make those ideas comfortably accessible.
Strengths
- Distinctive ghost roles and controlled-scare strategy
- Layered objectives and playful haunted-house atmosphere
Weaknesses
- Obstructing walls and confusing effects
- No mid-mission saving and costly late retries
Who it is for: Patient players interested in indirect control and puzzle-like strategy.
Play notes: Missions have a dawn deadline and no mid-mission saving. Allow time for a full attempt and possible retries.
