About this game
Disgaea 4 - A Promise Revisited is a PlayStation Vita role-playing game centered on area exploration, combat and party setup, and character progression. Story beats, exploration, and progression resources support a longer campaign, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Characters, world building, environments, and music carry most of the atmosphere, while the high-density portable display, stereo audio, touch feedback, and handheld interface need to keep text, targets, and state changes clear at a small scale. The genre-specific limitation is that dense text, menu layers, repeated battles, loading, or language dependence can slow progress. Platform conditions also include proprietary memory cards, touch or gyroscope input, battery life, download availability, cross-platform features, and retired online services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.
Collected in series
Disgaea turns the Netherworld into a stage for comic demon stories and squad-based strategy RPG battles. Positioning allies, combining attacks and developing characters and equipment all matter, with lifting and throwing opening up playful ways to rearrange the battlefield.

Vita sessions fit deep team growth, with an uneven added story.
Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited on Vita turns Valvatorez and his companions’ comic Netherworld story into a tactical RPG well suited to intermittent play. Battles are usually short, a hub separates them, and handheld standby allows a session to pause naturally. Character classes, equipment and positioning still provide long-term plans across many encounters. The cast and both English and Japanese voice tracks carry the story; the music is less distinctive. This edition includes previous PS3 downloadable and postgame material plus a new Time Leap scenario. There is much to revisit, but that time-travel story is comparatively messy and does not earn automatic credit simply for being new. The judgment is for the 2014 Vita A Promise Revisited edition, not the later Switch Complete+ and its management conveniences. Reviews mention optional online features, but their current service state has not been established, so this assessment rests on confirmed local battles and content. It best suits players who enjoy character comedy and refining a team through many short sessions.
Strengths
- Characters, dual voices and bundled material reward return play.
Weaknesses
- Time Leap is messy and the soundtrack is less distinctive.
Who it is for: Vita players who enjoy character comedy and compact tactical sessions.
Play notes: Switch Complete+ features and current online availability are outside scope.
