About this game

Cladun Returns - This Is Sengoku! is a PlayStation Vita role-playing game centered on combat encounters, area and route exploration, and resource or business management. Story beats, exploration, and progression resources support a longer campaign, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Characters, world building, environments, and music carry most of the atmosphere, while the high-density portable display, stereo audio, touch feedback, and handheld interface need to keep text, targets, and state changes clear at a small scale. The genre-specific limitation is that dense text, menu layers, repeated battles, loading, or language dependence can slow progress. Platform conditions also include proprietary memory cards, touch or gyroscope input, battery life, download availability, cross-platform features, and retired online services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Compact Vita dungeons with cumbersome system menus.

Cladun Returns on PS Vita builds a real-time dungeon crawler around rooms that can be cleared in minutes. Swords, axes and bows have different rhythms, while spikes and arrow traps can be turned against enemies. The Magic Circle places allies around a lead character to modify stats, giving apparently simple runs a deeper planning layer. Ten chapters, EX dungeons and timed goals suit short handheld sessions, although generic side quests and uneven boss difficulty interrupt the flow. A Japanese-style pixel hub and a choice of musical styles give the game personality. In some dungeons, however, walls and passable paths are not easy to distinguish. The direct Vita review particularly faults the Magic Circle explanations and menus; finding a needed person amid the hub’s many characters can also become a chore. This judgment applies to the reviewed Vita release, not PSP Cladun X2 or another platform’s interface. The reviewed account did not test online features, so their present usability is outside this score. It suits players who enjoy brief dungeon runs and learning elaborate progression systems.

Strengths

  • Weapon and trap interplay, formations and short goals.

Weaknesses

  • Opaque menus, occasional poor readability and uneven bosses.

Who it is for: Handheld dungeon fans willing to learn dense systems.

Play notes: Online features were not tested in the direct account.
