About this game

Custom Robo V2 is a Wii U role-playing game centered on combat encounters, area and route exploration, and collection and development goals. Story beats, exploration, and progression resources support a longer campaign, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make its immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Characters, world building, environments, and music carry most of the atmosphere, while HD television output and the GamePad screen need to divide maps, status, touch input, and primary focus clearly. The genre-specific limitation is that dense text, menu layers, repeated battles, loading, or language dependence can slow progress. Platform conditions also include GamePad battery life and range, shifts between two screens, loading, performance, and retired online and Miiverse services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features from other editions.

Customization becomes lively miniature robot combat.

Custom Robo V2 thrives on the loop between rebuilding a machine and testing it in battle. Bodies, guns, bombs and legs change movement and attack options rather than merely filling a collection, so another configuration can reveal a solution to a difficult opponent. Inside the arena, timing and evasive movement still matter: planning does not replace active decisions. Colorful robots give the world a pleasing toy-like identity, although the scenery is relatively plain. Exploring matchups with friends adds replay value, but four-player participation uses tag battles rather than four simultaneous robots. Japanese dialogue and part descriptions also require patience; understanding a fight is not the same as following the story. Separate user save slots make the Wii U edition convenient for preserving progress.

Strengths

  • Customization directly changes tactics
  • Build planning complements active combat
  • Replayable local matchups

Weaknesses

  • Four-player participation is tag-based
  • Japanese part descriptions require learning
  • Relatively plain scenery

Who it is for: Robot-customization and action-combat enthusiasts; Players willing to learn Japanese part effects

Play notes: Wii U behavior may differ from the original; N64 frame-rate and animation reports are not inherited. Story quality is not inferred from a reviewer who could not understand its Japanese dialogue.
