About this game

Clive Barker's Jericho is a PlayStation 3 shooter game centered on combat encounters, aiming and shooting, and positioning and evasion. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while HD 3D scenes, Blu-ray data streaming, surround audio, and cinematic presentation need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include Blu-ray loading, HDD installs, system software, DualShock 3 battery life, Move accessories, resolution and frame rate, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Strong squad powers meet cramped and frustrating encounters.

The most promising idea in Clive Barker’s Jericho on PS3 is instant possession of six squad members. Their different weapons and powers, including slowing time and setting enemies alight, can make firefights varied. The levels repeatedly undermine that system by squeezing the whole team into corridors and sending explosive enemies straight at them. Reviving fallen partners can consume more attention than shooting. The roughly eight-hour campaign contains impressive Roman and Crusades encounters, but also recurring chokepoints, an unsatisfying final boss and a story that ends without enough resolution. Gothic architecture, ominous lighting and restrained environmental sound create a strong sense of dread even when the dialogue falters. A direct comparative review specifically reports slightly cleaner PS3 textures and smooth running, together with long loads between levels. This score concerns the reviewed 2007 PS3 build, not an assumed later patch or a converted media rating. Horror shooter fans tolerant of confined battle spaces will find the most to appreciate.

Strengths

  • Distinct squad powers and effective Gothic atmosphere.

Weaknesses

  • Cramped combat, repeated revivals and weak closure.

Who it is for: Horror shooter fans tolerant of uneven battles.

Play notes: The findings concern the reviewed PS3 build.
