About this game

Century: Age of Ashes is a PlayStation 5 adventure game centered on combat encounters, character and object interaction, and objective or clue progression. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while SSD streaming, 4K and HDR output, 3D audio, performance or quality modes, and high-density interfaces need to preserve feedback and information clarity together. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include install size, SSD space, patch version, DualSense battery life, visual mode and frame rate, online dependencies, PS VR2 requirements, and cross-generation version differences affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Strong flight and team pursuit, limited by repetitive progression and historical PS5 performance problems.

Century: Age of Ashes makes a dragon's weight and speed immediately enjoyable: bank, dive through valleys and switch between fireballs and close flame breath as distance changes. Class abilities keep pursuit from becoming simple circling, while collecting and banking gold introduces useful team decisions. Detailed creatures and vertically layered environments provide strong fantasy spectacle. Cosmetic progression relies on repeated challenges, however, and paid appearances are prominent. The official description states that paid appearances grant no arena advantage. A 2022 PS5 review records substantial frame-rate inconsistency and no performance mode; helpful tutorials cannot remove that interference. Online play also depends on the availability of other players in the queue. It suits players drawn to dragon combat who accept online competitive conditions.

Strengths

  • Weighty flight and terrain-driven pursuit
  • Gold objectives create risk decisions
  • Distinctive dragon and environment detail

Weaknesses

  • Repetitive cosmetic progression and prominent monetisation
  • Historical PS5 testing finds unstable frame rates

Who it is for: Online players interested in dragons and team aerial combat.

Play notes: Requires online services and available opponents; 2022 PS5 testing reports unstable frame rates and no performance mode.
