About this game
Call of Duty - World at War is a Wii shooter game centered on aiming, shooting, and weapon use, combat encounters, and area and route exploration. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make its immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while standard-definition output, motion feedback, and interface scale at television distance need to preserve control readability. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and multiplayer service conditions can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include the Sensor Bar, remote batteries, motion calibration, peripheral requirements, storage limits, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features from other editions.

You move between cover, aim and fire under pressure, whether following a cinematic mission or contesting objectives against other players. Different branches add their own emphasis, including cooperative Zombies survival.

Strong Wii pointer combat with control and mode limits.
The Wii release of Call of Duty: World at War alternates Pacific fighting with the Soviet advance, giving its campaign distinct combat settings. Pointer aiming and Nunchuk movement make firefights direct, while bayonets, flamethrowers and smoke change how close-range pressure is handled. A contemporary Wii review finds the main controls responsive and sensitivity adjustable. Shaking the remote for melee can throw off the reticle, however, and reaching for the plus button to throw a grenade is awkward. A second player may join the campaign with an extra aiming reticle, adding a casual replay option. At launch, online progression and eight maps supported competition, but the main rules were limited to free-for-all and team deathmatch; this is no claim about online access today. Officer performances and archival transitions support the two theaters, although flatter Wii textures and subdued colors sometimes make enemies harder to read. This assessment is for the reviewed Wii build alone. A separate same-title catalogue game still needs identity reconciliation, so no other platform rating has been imported.
Strengths
- Two fronts, pointer aim and campaign co-op reinforce the action.
Weaknesses
- Melee and grenade mappings are awkward; online rules were narrow.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy WWII campaigns and Wii pointer shooting.
Play notes: Online details reflect 2008; duplicate-looking catalogue identity remains.
