About this game
Burnout Dominator is a PSP racing game centered on driving and route control, vehicle control, and route judgment. Tracks raise pressure through corners, rivals, and time targets, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Speed, track boundaries, and vehicle feedback determine driving readability, while the portable widescreen, UMD streaming, compressed audio, and handheld-scale interface need to preserve targets, text, and action readability. The genre-specific limitation is that visibility, collisions, steering precision, wheel support, or loading can limit consistency. Platform conditions also include single-nub camera control, UMD loading and noise, Memory Stick saves, battery life, regional language, ad hoc requirements, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

The PSP retains thrilling chained burnouts and risky traffic play.
The PSP Burnout Dominator deserves its own assessment rather than a shortened PS2 verdict. A handheld-specific review praises its speed and detailed scenery. Near misses, drifts and takedowns replenish a full-bar burnout, and consecutive chains make every traffic gap a tempting risk. World Tour spans car classes and event types, with ad hoc multiplayer as an additional reason to return. Solo challenges nevertheless grow repetitive late on, and the popular Crash mode is still absent. This portable edition has its own usability costs: long loading breaks the flow, while dark, detailed roads on a small display can make approaching traffic difficult to read at speed. It suits players who want aggressive arcade racing in handheld form and can tolerate those interruptions. No PS2-specific widescreen, image-quality or control conclusion is carried into the PSP score.
Strengths
- Excellent portable speed and boost chaining
- Ad hoc multiplayer adds value
Weaknesses
- Long loads and hard-to-read traffic
- Repetitive solo late game without Crash
Who it is for: PSP racers seeking aggressive speed despite loading interruptions.
Play notes: PSP-specific review; PS2 visuals and widescreen are excluded.
