About this game
Bomberman ’94 is an action game about using bombs to make progress through obstructed areas. An evil force has split the planet into five parts, and Bomberman sets out to restore peace. Destroying soft blocks can reveal eggs that allow him to ride Rooi. Five types offer different special abilities, adding options alongside bomb placement and movement. Breaking obstacles changes the space available, so choosing where to place a bomb also affects the routes through the area.

Bomberman '94
Simple bombing rules retain tactical variety, with display and language compromises on Wii U.
Bomberman ’94 derives its appeal from simple rules with clear spatial consequences. A bomb can open a route or remove the escape its owner needs, while Rooi abilities add kicking and traversal options to positioning. Solo stages and bosses test that judgment, and battle arenas alter the rhythm with conveyors, redirecting mechanisms and unusual setups. Rule customisation remains limited, however, and CPU opponents can mishandle hazards rather than replace the give-and-take of human opposition. The Wii U account inspects separate television and GamePad display settings and button remapping, providing useful adaptation options. Low resolution remains obvious on a television without a smoothing filter. Japanese battle menus also create friction for unfamiliar readers, and the German system interface has reported translation problems. It suits players who enjoy short spatial contests and are willing to learn the menus.
Strengths
- Rooi add tactical positioning options
- Solo stages and varied battle arenas
Weaknesses
- Limited rule options and imperfect CPU behaviour
- Low resolution and language-interface friction
Who it is for: Players who enjoy short spatial contests and will learn the menus and settings.
Play notes: Independent judgment from Maik Dallherm’s February 20, 2017 Wii U test and Nintenderos’s February 10 review, not our own playtest. Model, patch and hours are unspecified. German-interface findings retain their language scope; no frame-rate guarantee or transfer to PS3.
