About this game

Before We Leave is a PlayStation 5 simulation game centered on area and route exploration, resource or business management, and repeated adjustment and feedback. Schedules, changing values, or staged goals encourage repeated adjustment, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Interface clarity and state feedback matter more than spectacle, while SSD streaming, 4K and HDR output, 3D audio, performance or quality modes, and high-density interfaces need to preserve feedback and information clarity together. The genre-specific limitation is that explanations, dense menus, real-time systems, or accessory dependencies can add friction. Platform conditions also include install size, SSD space, patch version, DualSense battery life, visual mode and frame rate, online dependencies, PS VR2 requirements, and cross-generation version differences affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Space and supply chains create gentle but meaningful planning.

Before We Leave locates its challenge in land use, production and transport rather than warfare. Small islands make road and factory placement consequential, and trade between islands and eventually planets steadily enlarges the planning problem. Its peaceful presentation therefore does not remove meaningful choices: a badly connected supply chain can still hold a settlement back. Toy-like inhabitants and folk music make adjustment pleasant, while the documented PS5 controls avoid burying basic actions in layers of menus. The main weakness is repetition when new settlements ask for familiar early construction again. That limits the pace of discovery without invalidating the underlying logistics. It suits players who want to cultivate and refine a network quietly, not those looking for military opposition or relentless crises.

Strengths

  • Space and supply chains create gentle but meaningful planning.
  • Toy-like art and folk music support its peaceful pace.

Weaknesses

  • Repeated early settlement construction

Who it is for: Players seeking relaxed settlement and logistics planning

Play notes: Assessment uses the April 2022 console observation; peaceful design is not treated as an automatic strength.
