About this game
In ASTRONEER, exploration and construction share the same terrain tool. Dig below the surface, collect material or reshape the ground into a route you can use. Bases and vehicles are assembled by connecting components, while planetary exploration takes you both above and below ground. Deciding where to excavate and what to build gives each outing a practical purpose. The Xenobiology missions add a directed search for Galastropods across the solar system. These creatures become companions whose benefits remain active while they are fed, adding another consideration to expedition preparation. The Switch version also supports local multiplayer, with each participant using their own console and copy of the game.

Nintendo SwitchAI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
A promising fit for explorers who want to build their own routes and projects.
Terrain shaping and modular construction can turn exploration into a sequence of personal engineering problems. Galastropod missions offer a clearer objective when you want direction beyond your next building idea.
Strengths
- Digging and building with the same tool can make changes to the landscape feel purposeful.
- Creature missions can give freeform construction a useful change of focus.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy experimenting with terrain and assembling practical structures, with occasional mission-led exploration.
Play notes: Local multiplayer requires a console and game copy for each participant; physical copies need the Xenobiology update for the creature missions described here.
