About this game

Assault Rigs is a PlayStation shooter game centered on combat encounters, puzzle, maze, or device solving, and area and route exploration. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while early 3D graphics, pre-rendered backgrounds, CD audio, and full-motion video need to preserve targets and interface readability on a television. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include disc loading, Memory Card saves, regional video standards, digital or analog control support, vibration, and dedicated peripherals affect original-hardware use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Fast tank action combines shooting and route finding effectively, though its objectives develop modestly.

Assault Rigs turns tanks into agile arena competitors. Fast turning and shooting make pursuit, flanking and finding angles more engaging than simply trading shots. The virtual spaces also contain ramps, lifts and movable blocks, while collecting gems and finding exits encourage attention to routes. Weapon pickups add tactical variety to encounters. Its best moments involve reading a path, maneuvering away from incoming fire and returning with a stronger tool. Basic shots feel weak, however, and objectives often return to reaching an exit or eliminating opposing tanks. Over time, variation comes more from arena layouts than from changing mission demands. The PlayStation tanks look blocky, but environmental detail and music establish a clear competitive atmosphere. Responsive handling makes the central idea enjoyable, especially for players seeking quick tank battles rather than a continually evolving campaign.

Strengths

  • Quick, responsive tanks support mobile combat.
  • Ramps, mechanisms and different weapons give arenas meaningful route choices.

Weaknesses

  • Weak basic shots and repeated exit or elimination objectives limit long-term variety.

Who it is for: For players who enjoy virtual arenas, quick maneuvering and tank combat.

Play notes: Based on original PlayStation software, not Saturn frame-rate claims or PC controls; check the connection requirements of your own edition for multiplayer.
