About this game
Akinakes is a PlayStation 4 shooter game centered on aiming, shooting, and weapon use, combat encounters, and weapon and firepower management. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while HD output, HDR or PS4 Pro modes, HDD streaming, surround audio, and television-distance interfaces need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include HDD installs and loading, patch version, storage space, DualShock 4 battery life, PS Camera or PS VR requirements, visual modes, frame rate, and network services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Attractive pixel shooting cut short by its own small scope.
Akinakes is a short horizontal shooter on PS4. Collectible items strengthen the ship's forward fire, and the five stages have their own visual themes and bosses. A review explicitly played on PS4 praised the pixel art and matching music. Its problem is not an opaque ruleset but a lack of runway: even on a harder setting, that reviewer completed the game in roughly ten minutes and found no extra modes to encourage return visits. Enemies offered little sustained resistance, so the upgrade loop barely has time to mature. The same PS4 account also reports a fire button that sometimes sticks, producing unintended rapid fire. This is a decent brief taste of shooting with attractive audiovisual work, but it has little to offer anyone seeking a durable score-chasing campaign.
Strengths
- Pixel art and music leave a stronger impression than the campaign length.
Weaknesses
- Very short levels, no extra modes and occasional sticky fire input.
Who it is for: Newcomers wanting a very brief, visually appealing shooter.
Play notes: Expect roughly ten minutes of main play and limited challenge on PS4.
