About this game
Alienation is a PlayStation 4 shooter game centered on aiming, shooting, and weapon use, combat encounters, and weapon and firepower management. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while HD output, HDR or PS4 Pro modes, HDD streaming, surround audio, and television-distance interfaces need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include HDD installs and loading, patch version, storage space, DualShock 4 battery life, PS Camera or PS VR requirements, visual modes, frame rate, and network services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

PlayStation 4AI review

Strong shooting and progression, occasionally crowded action.
Alienation on PS4 combines Housemarque’s top-down shooting with classes, upgrades and loot. Tank, Bio-Specialist and Saboteur have distinct abilities, so choosing when to use a skill amid a crowd adds decisions beyond simply holding the trigger. Large maps contain random mini-bosses and challenges. Experience improves active and passive abilities, while weapon drops can change the next approach; these systems give repeated clearing a purpose. Detailed environments, colourful explosions and heavy gun sounds make attacks feel substantial. The screen can become extremely busy, but abilities generally keep the chaos manageable. The European PS4 launch reviewer explicitly reports stable performance even when enemies, explosions and debris fill the scene. That target-console observation supports the technical judgment here. Later patches and present-day cooperative service availability were not examined, so this is an assessment of the reviewed launch period. Players who enjoy dense action, gear progression and cooperative clearing are well served.
Strengths
- Classes and loot keep dense battles tactical.
Weaknesses
- Effects and crowds can become visually busy.
Who it is for: Action fans seeking co-op and loot progression.
Play notes: European PS4 launch review; later patches and online status unverified.
