About this game

24 - The Game is a PlayStation 2 shooter game centered on aiming, shooting, and weapon use, combat encounters, and aiming and shooting. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while 3D scenes, streamed data, cinematics, surround audio, and interlaced television output need to preserve action and state readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include DVD loading, the 8MB Memory Card, analog sticks and pressure-sensitive buttons, Multitap, Network Adapter, dedicated peripherals, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Television tension exceeds the game’s unreliable missions.

24: The Game resembles an interactive season of television. Clocks, split screens, cast voices and successive crises make the next mission tempting to see. Switching characters between shooting, stealth, driving and technical work gives the plot a changing setting and point of view. Unfortunately, those activities are rarely equally convincing. When an enemy moves behind the player, targeting and the camera struggle to follow; hacking and interrogations often reduce to simple button work, and driving can hitch. A mission-results screen can interrupt a dramatic transition as well. Fans may endure the friction for the cast and story, but someone expecting a mature action game will repeatedly wrestle with its controls.

Strengths

  • Cast voices and split screens preserve the show.
  • Story gives missions momentum.

Weaknesses

  • Targeting and camera hamper combat.
  • Thin technical tasks and sluggish driving.

Who it is for: Fans of 24 who prioritise its characters and plot over polished action.

Play notes: Contains violence and terror threats; original PS2 build only.

Driving, hacking and interrogation vary the scenario, but many tasks reduce to repeated button presses or simple matching. A large count of modes does not become depth.

Shooting and stealth suggest the show’s field work, yet slow turning and unreliable targeting fail when an enemy moves behind the player. Handling regularly obstructs the core mission.

Cast voices, ticking clocks and split screens convincingly reproduce the series’ tension. The story presentation is much more accomplished than the interactive tasks.

The PS2 build hitches, loses camera control and feels sluggish while driving. Widescreen and progressive-scan options help presentation but do not remove those play barriers.
