Overview

Thunder is Midway’s arcade racing family, sending powerboats, off-road vehicles and snowmobiles through spectacular courses. Boost pickups, big jumps and sudden opportunities to overtake keep the racing lively across its different branches. Representative games: Hydro Thunder (1999): Powerboats race through dramatic waterways, collecting boost pickups for bursts of speed. 4 Wheel Thunder (2000): Off-road races combine boost hunting with jumps and shortcuts across indoor and outdoor courses. Arctic Thunder (2000): Snowmobile racing adds weapons and power-ups that let riders attack their rivals while chasing the finish line. Suitable for: Players who enjoy finding a shortcut and blasting past the pack will find plenty to chase here. Expect exaggerated speed, busy courses and races built around making the next overtaking opportunity count.
