About this game

Design and name your own cat, then take part in Clan life through quests, exploration and combat. Search the territory for materials and scents, learn moves for turn-based encounters and use gathered resources to craft items in your den. Forests, wetlands and moorland provide different surroundings for climbing, moving through undergrowth and solving environmental puzzles. The story follows a character you create, rather than simply replaying a novel protagonist's entire life. Familiar locations and terminology connect the adventure to the books, while the game tells its own Clan stories.

Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest

Creating a cat has appeal, but repetitive duties and weak technical delivery undermine the Clan adventure.

A custom cat and an established Clan give the adventure an immediate personal hook. Preparing a small set of combat moves and choosing supportive responses in battle also provide decisions beyond simply selecting an attack. The problem is how little the surrounding structure develops those ideas: repeated patrols and collection duties keep returning even after events that should have changed the character's life. Distinct landscapes help the territories feel different, but the Clan stories do not make equally strong use of their identities. The reviewed Switch 2 release also has uneven motion in both play modes. Its social setting may interest dedicated readers, but the repetitive progression and technical friction make it difficult to recommend on that attraction alone.

Strengths

  • Cat creation gives the journey a personal starting point.
  • Move preparation and battle responses add small tactical choices.

Weaknesses

  • Patrol and collection routines offer limited progression in variety.
  • Switch 2 review reports judder in both docked and handheld play.

Who it is for: Readers particularly interested in creating a cat and taking part in everyday Clan activities.

Play notes: Technical assessment applies to the Switch 2 release reviewed on October 23, not the original Switch version. The optional visual treatment belongs to paid content.

Repeated patrol and collection duties weaken the sense that progression changes what the player does.

Move preparation and battle responses create some decisions, but the basic encounter structure does not support a stronger core grade.

Distinct terrain helps place recognition, while weakly differentiated Clan stories limit the setting’s expressive strength.

Judder across both modes adds friction to routine exploration; the technical grade reflects observed consistency problems without inventing a numerical frame rate.
