About this game

Davy enters a dungeon to find a way to revive a frozen human woman. Close-range action and character growth drive each expedition. Consuming the cores of elite monsters gives him new forms and abilities, changing his moves rather than merely his appearance. Body modifications let you combine equipment and body parts to adjust his abilities, while a special burst provides temporary strengthening. Returning to the dungeon gives you opportunities to learn enemy behaviour and try another combination of powers. An exaggerated zombie romance and monster comedy frame these repeated combat challenges.

Stupid Never Dies

Transformations and a strange visual identity keep it interesting, despite loose combat and intrusive progression.

The most useful idea is making a defeated monster change the player's own actions. New forms give another expedition something to try, while the growth curve and additional systems keep supplying reasons to return. Its exaggerated cast and visual identity also distinguish a structure that otherwise follows familiar run-based action. The limitation is that quantity of systems does not always become a stronger fight. Davy's starting attacks can feel loose, and repeated explanations or returns to character interactions interrupt the activity that those upgrades are meant to support. It suits players willing to explore an eccentric combination of powers more than those seeking consistently precise character action. The personality is distinctive; the underlying combat does not always match it.

Strengths

  • Monster forms introduce different actions across expeditions.
  • The cast and presentation give the familiar structure its own identity.

Weaknesses

  • Basic combat feel is less precise than the character-action premise suggests.
  • Heavy explanations and progression interactions can interrupt play.

Who it is for: Players drawn to unusual monster abilities, rapid growth and exaggerated comedy.

Play notes: The cited PlayStation assessment was played on PS5 Pro in Europe; it is not a measured frame-rate guarantee for the base PS5. The humour and repeated-run structure are central to the experience.

Frequent growth supplies reasons to return, but repeated runs and heavy explanation interrupt the pace rather than consistently deepening it.

Dimension

Transformations change available actions and rescue some variety, but the base combat feedback is too loose for a stronger action grade.

Reviewed6.7 / 100.4
Dimension

The unusual cast and visual language make the premise recognizable, although the abrasive comedy narrows its appeal.

On the reviewed PS5Pro setup, repeated explanation and restrictive interaction add usability friction; the grade does not infer frame-rate failures or performance on untested hardware.
