About this game
Prey is a PC adventure game centered on location exploration, character and object interaction, and objective or clue progression. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while resolution, graphics settings, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio, text scaling, and hardware performance need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include OS and hardware requirements, installation media, patches, drivers, DRM and launchers, key binding and controller support, save locations, mod compatibility, servers, and era-specific OS compatibility affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Exceptional spatial exploration and experimentation outweigh uneven combat and repeated traversal.
Prey turns the simple objective of entering a room into a collection of possibilities. Building ledges with foam, squeezing through a gap with Mimic powers or activating a button through a window makes observation and experimentation matter. Talos I connects convincing work and living spaces, while traces of its crew give the disaster a human dimension. Returning with new abilities often reveals overlooked routes. The cost is substantial backtracking, and direct combat is less consistently satisfying than creative problem solving. PC controls support that experimentation, although inconsistent menu behavior creates small interruptions. The base campaign suits players willing to understand spaces, manage resources and entertain several answers. Those primarily seeking continuous gunfights or a tightly linear story may find its priorities less appealing.
Strengths
- Creative tools and spatial interaction
- Convincing interconnected station
Weaknesses
- Repeated traversal
- Inconsistent menu behavior
Who it is for: Players who enjoy immersive simulations, environmental investigation and experimentation.
Play notes: 2017 PC base campaign, excluding Mooncrash. Input observations come from 2017 testing.
