About this game
Phasmophobia is a PlayStation 5 puzzle game centered on collection and development goals, spatial or logical judgment, and successive puzzle solving. Compact stages add conditions and tighter constraints over time, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Graphics, audio, and input feedback need to support decisions directly, while SSD streaming, 4K and HDR output, 3D audio, performance or quality modes, and high-density interfaces need to preserve feedback and information clarity together. The genre-specific limitation is that limited explanations, input recognition, repetition, or abrupt difficulty can stall progress. Platform conditions also include install size, SSD space, patch version, DualSense battery life, visual mode and frame rate, online dependencies, PS VR2 requirements, and cross-generation version differences affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

PlayStation 5AI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
Deduction and cooperation matter more than reflexes.
Phasmophobia builds fear around not yet knowing the answer. A team gathers instrument readings, eliminates possibilities and decides whether another piece of evidence is worth the risk. Sound, radio communication and other players' reactions matter more than combat, while recognising ghost behaviour remains satisfying after the initial shock wears off. Restricted map variants offer shorter investigations, but learning equipment and evidence still takes patience. PS5 now supports voice recognition, and shared evidence improves coordination. September's official list nevertheless identifies console crashes; the subsequent room-entry and audio fixes do not confirm that all stability problems are resolved. Those limitations deserve attention without assuming every older character-update complaint remains unresolved. Practise equipment and microphone settings with familiar teammates before raising the difficulty.
Strengths
- Cooperative deduction reinforces horror
- Shorter maps and shared evidence broaden investigations
Weaknesses
- Rules require patience and the official list still identifies console crash risks
Who it is for: Cooperative horror fans with regular teammates
Play notes: PS5 has a documented crash risk; configure voice input and do not assume recognition is still missing.
