About this game

Metal Max 3 (メタルマックス3 Metaru Makkusu Surī) is the seventh entry in the Metal Max series (besides Metal Saga series). It is a vehicle combat RPG produced by Cattle Call and co-published by Kadokawa Games, Enterbrain, and Crea-Tech for the Nintendo DS exclusively in Japan in 2010. In 1993, Metal Max 2 was published by Data East, who retained the trademark rights to series until its closure in 2003 and the liquidation of its intellectual properties in 2004. In April 2009, Enterbrain (Kadokawa's subsidiary) obtained the rights and published Metal Max 3 the next year. It is the first numbered entry in the series in… In this Nintendo DS release, combat encounters, driving and route control, and pet care and interaction form the main playable structure. Story beats, exploration, and progression resources support a longer campaign. The dual screens, stylus, and buttons divide commands from status information where the design calls for it. Characters, world building, interface design, and music carry the atmosphere, while dense text, menu layers, repeated battles, or language dependence can slow portable play. This description applies to the Nintendo DS edition and does not import modes, presentation upgrades, or convenience features from home-console versions, mobile adaptations, later ports, or remakes.

优秀 Nintendo DS role-playing experience

Metal Max 3 centers on combat encounters, driving and route control, and pet care and interaction. Story beats, exploration, and progression resources support a longer campaign, giving the Nintendo DS release recognizable goals and a coherent portable rhythm. Characters, world building, interface design, and music carry the atmosphere. Its value comes from how the main rules work with the handheld interface, while variety and room for mastery determine the longer-term appeal. Dense text, menu layers, repeated battles, or language dependence can slow portable play, which is the principal limitation on original hardware. GameNavo scores this concrete release across four independently judged dimensions and does not use press aggregates, user ratings, source length, media count, title recognition, or features from another platform.

Strengths

  • combat encounters, and driving and route control provide a readable mechanical foundation.
  • Progress is divided into understandable stages, tasks, matches, or chapters.
  • Presentation and interface feedback support the main rules.

Weaknesses

  • Dense text, menu layers, repeated battles, or language dependence can slow portable play.
  • Original language, multiplayer hardware, or touch conditions may affect present-day use.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy role-playing games, accept Nintendo DS-era interface conventions, and want to assess the original handheld release on its own terms.

Play notes: This review covers the Nintendo DS release without emulator save states, speed-up, or later-port features and does not represent a complete playthrough.
