About this game
Last Resort is a 街机 shooter game centered on aiming, shooting, and weapon use, combat encounters, and weapon and firepower management. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while period CRT or cabinet displays, horizontal or vertical orientation, pixel and sprite proportions, audio, and cabinet viewing distance need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include coin and continue rules, operator difficulty settings, control-panel condition, screen orientation, board and regional revisions, linked cabinets, and hardware maintenance affect the present-day experience. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

A distinctive ricochet shooter built for mastery.
Last Resort on the original Neo Geo MVS is a compact side-scrolling shooter with a stronger identity than its standard power-ups first suggest. Its movable satellite unit can ricochet fire from walls and enemies, making position and attack angle matter when a boss exposes a weak point. Speed, laser and missile upgrades add options, while a direct review explicitly covering the MVS release finds the high difficulty demanding but learnable. Two-player co-operation gives the short arcade run another reason to revisit it. Dark futuristic city art, small destruction details, moody synths and guitar-driven music hold the atmosphere together. This is still an arcade challenge, not an expansive campaign; the payoff comes from mastering routes and surviving under pressure. The assessment concerns the original MVS game, not the already catalogued PS4 compilation. The source establishes arcade availability and play, but does not measure latency on every cabinet or board revision. Players who enjoy route practice and co-operative shooters will get much more from it than players seeking a forgiving first clear.
Strengths
- Ricochet strategy and dark sci-fi presentation stand out.
Weaknesses
- High difficulty and compact arcade scope narrow its appeal.
Who it is for: Arcade shooter fans who enjoy repeated route mastery.
Play notes: Original MVS only; cabinet performance is not fully measured.
