About this game

Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono. 2 is a PSP action game centered on platform movement and landing judgment, movement and immediate actions, and enemy and hazard responses. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hits, camera behavior, and readable hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while the portable widescreen, UMD streaming, compressed audio, and handheld-scale interface need to preserve targets, text, and action readability. The genre-specific limitation is that camera behavior, collision rules, input mapping, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. Platform conditions also include single-nub camera control, UMD loading and noise, Memory Stick saves, battery life, regional language, ad hoc requirements, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Solid exploration and party building weighed down by management.

Class of Heroes 2 lets you assemble a student party, follow quests and uncover equipment across differently themed labyrinths. Race, class and equipment choices give preparation substance, while a well-equipped group can clear battles quickly. Distinct locations and occasional absurd dialogue add charm to the traditional crawling. Most frustration comes outside those battles: class restrictions and affinity receive little explanation, alchemy involves guesswork, and individual item transfers consume too much attention. The historical English PSP review also reports purchased recipes missing from notes and automatic saves disappearing when the console is powered off, so careful saving matters. Players willing to investigate party builds and tolerate old-fashioned menus can enjoy its exploration; anyone expecting clear guidance and effortless management may struggle.

Strengths

  • Substantial party and equipment options
  • Appealing themed exploration
  • Entertaining situational humor

Weaknesses

  • Missing class and affinity guidance
  • Awkward crafting and item management
  • Historical recipe-note and autosave faults

Who it is for: Dungeon-RPG players willing to study builds and tolerate older management interfaces.

Play notes: Assessment conditions: 2013 English PSP release; the Japanese original is from 2009, excluding 2G and remasters.
