About this game
Karnov's Revenge is a 街机 fighting game centered on combat encounters, story, case, or mission progress, and character matchups. Short bouts use character differences and rising difficulty for variety, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hit feedback, and readable arenas create match tension, while period CRT or cabinet displays, horizontal or vertical orientation, pixel and sprite proportions, audio, and cabinet viewing distance need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that button mapping, move recognition, multiplayer accessories, and cpu behavior can affect balance. Platform conditions also include coin and continue rules, operator difficulty settings, control-panel condition, screen orientation, board and regional revisions, linked cabinets, and hardware maintenance affect the present-day experience. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

A lively arcade fighter whose imbalance is part of its appeal.
Karnov’s Revenge, also known as Fighter’s History Dynamite, is a four-button Neo-Geo MVS fighter. Its one-two attack chains and character weak points push matches toward fast, offensive decisions. A direct AES/MVS account finds the controls responsive and hit detection clear enough to support that pace. The fun is not the same as balanced competition. Several fighters have exploitable moves, and the single-player computer takes full advantage of the rough edges. Thirteen selectable characters, visible damage near weak spots and extensive voice clips keep quick matches lively. Backgrounds are varied, but the broader visual finish and music were hardly leading examples for 1994. A friend can turn its extremes into entertaining surprises; players seeking long-term tournament fairness have better options. This assessment covers the original MVS arcade code and its four-button input, not PlayStation 4 Arcade Archives conveniences, a Saturn adaptation or the first Fighter’s History. Current access to an original cabinet is a separate practical limitation.
Strengths
- Chains, weak points and hit detection make bouts energetic.
Weaknesses
- Exploits and punishing AI reduce fair replay.
Who it is for: Fans of 1990s fighters who enjoy chaotic casual matches.
Play notes: Original MVS game only; PS4 archive features are excluded.
