About this game
Jeremy McGrath Supercross 2000 is a Nintendo 64 racing game centered on driving and route control, vehicle control, and route judgment. Tracks raise pressure through corners, rivals, and time targets, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make its immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Speed, track boundaries, and vehicle feedback determine driving readability, while 3D scenes, fog, textures, and cartridge audio need to preserve target readability within limited memory and television output. The genre-specific limitation is that visibility, collisions, steering precision, motion calibration, or network conditions can limit consistency. Platform conditions also include camera control, stick precision, Controller Pak saves, Rumble Pak support, Expansion Pak requirements, and four-player setup can affect original-hardware use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features from other editions.

Nintendo 64AI review
AI reviews are subjective assessments, not player ratings. See each review for its evidence and limitations.Published date:
Accessible dirt racing with shallow mastery and slowdown.
Jeremy McGrath Supercross 2000 on Nintendo 64 uses forgiving arcade physics for dirt-bike racing. Bikes stop quickly, turn sharply and recover speed soon after a crash, so newcomers need not master a simulation of the sport. Tournament, single races, freestyle tricks and rider or track editing provide a broad menu. Much of the single-player racing is easy, however, and tricks have little relevance outside their own mode; mastering a basic route does not reveal much additional depth. A direct N64 review finds tracks reasonably crisp and licensed music suitable to the action, while rider models and animation look rough. Single-player frame rate is generally workable, but four-player competition slows markedly. Keeping a custom track also depends on the original Controller Pak. This assessment is for Acclaim’s Nintendo 64 release, not EA’s similarly named Supercross 2000 or the separate Game Boy Color version. Friends seeking uncomplicated races may enjoy it if they can tolerate compromised split-screen response.
Strengths
- Arcade handling and track creation lower the barrier.
Weaknesses
- Stunts add little and four-player racing slows down.
Who it is for: Casual dirt-bike racers unconcerned with simulation.
Play notes: Acclaim N64 build, distinct from EA and GBC titles.
