About this game
Crayon Shin-chan 2 - Daimaou no Gyakushuu is a Super Famicom action release centered on platform movement and landing judgment, puzzle, maze, or device solving, and movement and immediate actions. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make its immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on campaign length or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Readable animation, hits, and hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while sprite animation, scrolling, color, and chip-based audio jointly carry readability and atmosphere. The main genre-specific friction is that period-specific collision rules, limited guidance, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. In addition, password or battery saves, multiplayer accessories, manual dependence, regional language, and cartridge enhancement chips can affect original-hardware use. This description covers only this release and excludes emulator features, modern-port conveniences, and content from other platforms.
Collected in series
Crayon Shin-chan games bring Shinnosuke and his friends into adventures shaped by the character’s mischievous humour. The franchise ranges from comic action stages to countryside holidays, where fishing, catching insects and meeting neighbours can be as memorable as the main story.

Lively action and Shin-chan character, curtailed by an exceptionally brief campaign.
Shin-chan 2 works best when its mischievous character becomes part of the action. Brisk movement, strange enemies, character voices and buoyant music fit together naturally. Platforming, exploration and shooting stages each introduce ideas, and bosses need different approaches rather than the same repeated attack. The licence consequently contributes more than familiar faces. The weakness is not merely a small stage count: all eight stages are brief, often ending before their ideas can develop, while removed minigames and conversations leave little space for side activities or interaction. Difficulty, audio choices and four control layouts make the action approachable without extending its depth. It is well suited to Shin-chan fans wanting a short burst of absurd humour, less so players expecting a sustained challenge or extensive extras. This is the Japanese SFC Daimaou no Gyakushuu, not another platform's sequel.
Strengths
- Platforming, exploration, shooting and distinct bosses provide concentrated variety.
- Character poses, voices and lively music capture the mischievous humour.
Weaknesses
- Eight very brief stages and removed minigames and conversations leave ideas and extras underdeveloped.
Who it is for: Shin-chan fans wanting a short burst of the original's absurd humour.
Play notes: Japanese SFC Daimaou no Gyakushuu; distinguish it from GB and PC namesakes and expect a brief campaign.
