About this game
Control is a PC action game centered on platform movement and landing judgment, enemy and hazard responses, and stage objectives. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hits, camera behavior, and readable hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while resolution, graphics settings, frame rate, aspect ratio, audio, text scaling, and hardware performance need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera behavior, collision rules, input mapping, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. Platform conditions also include OS and hardware requirements, installation media, patches, drivers, DRM and launchers, key binding and controller support, save locations, mod compatibility, servers, and era-specific OS compatibility affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Brilliant powers and place with an uneven beginning and ending.
Control on Windows PC sends Jesse through the shifting offices of the Federal Bureau of Control, pairing a transforming gun with telekinesis, dash and shield. Weapon ammunition and powers recharge separately, while enemies drop health where they fall, rewarding movement and assertive positioning. Once the abilities open up, throwing office furniture through crowded rooms creates an unusually expressive combat loop. The early hours can be frustrating before that toolkit develops. Files, video clips, side stories and strange objects make exploration of the Oldest House worthwhile, and its brutalist offices become consistently uncanny. Jesse herself remains somewhat distant, however, and the story stops abruptly after building substantial mystery. A direct PC review reports roughly 60 to 90 frames per second at 1440p maximum settings on an RTX 2080, i9-9900K, 32 GB RAM and SSD; its author explicitly calls this a powerful machine. Those results do not promise identical performance on other hardware or later builds. This assesses the 2019 Windows PC launch content, not Ultimate Edition additions.
Strengths
- Dynamic abilities, destruction and exceptional world design.
Weaknesses
- Early vulnerability and an underdeveloped ending.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy kinetic combat and environmental storytelling.
Play notes: PC performance is tied to the listed 2019 hardware; Ultimate Edition is excluded.
