About this game

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a PlayStation 5 shooter game centered on aiming and shooting, positioning and evasion, and weapon and firepower management. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while SSD streaming, 4K and HDR output, 3D audio, performance or quality modes, and high-density interfaces need to preserve feedback and information clarity together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include install size, SSD space, patch version, DualSense battery life, visual mode and frame rate, online dependencies, PS VR2 requirements, and cross-generation version differences affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Strong weapon handling and customisation sustain familiar combat.

This assessment concerns the 2022 reboot-line Modern Warfare II, not the 2009 game sharing its name. Strong weapon feedback, attachment experimentation and varied individual campaign missions give the familiar shooting a dependable appeal. Modes such as Prisoner Rescue also leave room for coordinated squads. Repeated pursuit beats weaken the story, however, and the initial three-mission Spec Ops offering gives cooperative play a limited structure. Detailed cities and character interactions are more convincing than the thematic depth. Historical PS5 testing found fluid rendering but also bad checkpoints, mission blockers and crashes that could require replaying or lose progress. It is well suited to players who value familiar gunplay and multiplayer builds, while demonstrating why attractive, smooth presentation is not sufficient evidence of reliable completion.

Strengths

  • Strong weapon handling and customisation sustain familiar combat.
  • Convincing presentation exceeds the depth of its story.

Weaknesses

  • Mission blockers and a small initial co-op offering

Who it is for: Players who enjoy familiar multiplayer shooting and weapon builds

Play notes: Identity is the 2022 Modern Warfare II; historical defects are not current-patch claims.
