About this game

Blazing Lazers is a Wii shooter game centered on aiming, shooting, and weapon use, area and route exploration, and character or equipment growth. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make its immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while standard-definition output, motion feedback, and interface scale at television distance need to preserve control readability. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and multiplayer service conditions can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include the Sensor Bar, remote batteries, motion calibration, peripheral requirements, storage limits, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features from other editions.

7.5 / 10Wii

Powerful shooting, faithful Wii emulation, thin modes.

Blazing Lazers on Wii Virtual Console is an emulated presentation of the TurboGrafx-16 vertical shooter rather than a native Wii remake. Across nine stages, a small ship dodges dense waves while four main weapon families, bombs, homing aids and shields produce spectacular firepower. New enemies and increasingly odd bosses appear as the run advances, and the final third demands practice. The first five stages are often too easy once upgraded weapons start erasing enemies before they can respond. There is also no two-player option or separate challenge mode. Colourful sprites and crowded projectiles remain fluid, and upbeat futuristic music lends energy, although backgrounds are plain and laser effects are thin. A direct 2007 review of the Wii Virtual Console release explicitly finds its emulation trouble-free. D-pad movement and separate firing and bomb buttons preserve the original action without an invented motion scheme. This judgment does not assign Wii emulation quality to the protected PS3 archive or the separate Wii U listing; an old shop price is not evidence of present purchase availability.

Strengths

  • Varied armaments, late challenge and fluid action.

Weaknesses

  • Easy early stages, plain backgrounds and no co-op.

Who it is for: Fans of compact, high-powered vertical shooters.

Play notes: Wii Virtual Console; PS3 and Wii U separate.
