About this game

Battles of Prince of Persia is the first game in the Prince of Persia franchise to make its way onto the Nintendo DS. The storyline takes place in the time between the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. Unlike other entries, this game is about tactical combat, as you must control armies using the Prince, and a number of generals, via playable trading cards. There are nine different playable characters, 27 different units to control, and three different factions. Multiplayer is available for competition, with one copy of the cartridge capable of being shared among multiple players. In this Nintendo DS release, combat encounters, turn-based tactical decisions, and card or board-game rules form the main playable structure. Successive missions add map constraints, new rules, and tougher opposition. The dual screens, stylus, and buttons divide commands from status information where the design calls for it. Maps, unit states, and action feedback determine battlefield readability, while brief tutorials, dense menus, and long scenarios increase the learning curve. This description applies to the Nintendo DS edition and does not import modes, presentation upgrades, or convenience features from home-console versions, mobile adaptations, later ports, or remakes.

基本成立 Nintendo DS strategy experience

Battles of Prince of Persia centers on combat encounters, turn-based tactical decisions, and card or board-game rules. Successive missions add map constraints, new rules, and tougher opposition, giving the Nintendo DS release recognizable goals and a coherent portable rhythm. Maps, unit states, and action feedback determine battlefield readability. Its value comes from how the main rules work with the handheld interface, while variety and room for mastery determine the longer-term appeal. Brief tutorials, dense menus, and long scenarios increase the learning curve, which is the principal limitation on original hardware. GameNavo scores this concrete release across four independently judged dimensions and does not use press aggregates, user ratings, source length, media count, title recognition, or features from another platform.

Strengths

  • combat encounters, and turn-based tactical decisions provide a readable mechanical foundation.
  • Progress is divided into understandable stages, tasks, matches, or chapters.
  • Presentation and interface feedback support the main rules.

Weaknesses

  • Brief tutorials, dense menus, and long scenarios increase the learning curve.
  • Original language, multiplayer hardware, or touch conditions may affect present-day use.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy strategy games, accept Nintendo DS-era interface conventions, and want to assess the original handheld release on its own terms.

Play notes: This review covers the Nintendo DS release without emulator save states, speed-up, or later-port features and does not represent a complete playthrough.
