About this game

The prince’s route is shaped by more than ordinary jumping. Grow a vine to raise him, attack from that position or jump toward a place that was out of reach. Sliding provides a separate way into narrow spaces. Rings collected during action can be spent at shops on items and recovery. Bonus Island uses board-game movement with quizzes and other events. Passwords shown before action stages let you continue later. This overview follows the Japanese Famicom manual and does not describe regional quiz changes.

8.5 / 10Famicom / NES

For players interested in unusual movement tools beside platform action.

The vine changes reach and the slide changes access, making movement abilities matter to route choice. Bonus Island may appeal to players comfortable with a change of activity.

Strengths

  • The vine creates a concrete alternative to a standard jump.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy movement tools and interruptions by board-style events.
