Baldur's Gate 3 is a party-based role-playing game built on the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons. Players create a character with a race, class, and abilities, recruit companions, and move between exploration, dialogue, investigation, and combat. A character's skills affect the actions and responses available; a confrontation does not always have to begin with a direct attack. Combat proceeds in turns. Players plan around initiative, position their party, combine attacks and spells, and make use of objects and terrain.
